Companies pay for sponsorships to gain revenue for their company because if another product is promoted in their product, more people will be willing to buy that product through the company.

      1. Companies would not want a sponsor as the sponsor may want more control over the company. They may want to schedule events to coincide with peak television viewing time to get maximum publicity so may take over the company.
